Can you explain how Arena Matchmaking works?
The 4x4 Arena uses a matchmaking algorithm that balances putting players in a match quickly with teams that have similar power levels. The matchmaking algorithm takes the power of your team, and searches for an opponent within a close range of that power. After 3 seconds, if there are no suitable matches, the range of power expands until a match is made.
Why did the Arena change from 5 days to 3?
Why did milestone rewards not adjust to those changes?
The team looks to improve the weekly rotating event schedule for every update. They decided to decrease the Arena Event from 5 days to 3 days to fit in to a 2 day PVP tournament.
The increase in weekly events provides players lots of opportunities to earn plenty of Black gemstones so we decided to leave the milestone rewards as is.
Can you shed some light on Orc Drops?
The ability to bring in an Orc ally is slightly different depending on which part of the game you’re in. Here’s how it works:
Arena (co-op): Charges with each basic attack, and requires a total of 12 attacks to be fully charged.
Arena (PVP): Charges with each basic attack, multiplied by 0.5 for each champion alive (e.g. 6 attacks if you’re the last alive, 24 attacks if everyone in your team is alive).
Campaign: Becomes fully charged when your team has lost 12% of their collective health.
Warlord is very hard right now. Is this intentional? Will it be fixed?
The weekly event warlord's have been re-balanced with an emphasis on the the new level cap and also the buffed champions to complete the final stage.
To make leveling and champion progression smoother, we have prepared a Resource Black Gemstone Palantir and a new resource, Ithildin to help players progress through the game. Black Gemstones can be earned through participating in the weekly rotating events.
Can you tell us more about legendary runes?
There are three Mythic runes (red) that give champions powerful bonuses. The three runes are:
- Rune of Insatiable Hunger - Gives lifesteal
- Rune of Destruction - Improves attack speed
- Rune of Expedition - Improves movement speed
How do you determine what balance changes (Orcs, Champions, etc.) need to be made in the game?
We usually look at a variety of factors when identifying whether or not balancing changes need to be made. Here are some key things we take into account:
- Statistics - win rates, usage rates, etc
- Play Testing - we play test as many combinations of champions as we can to identify potential balancing adjustments we need to make
- Player Feedback - we review the feedback on our champions and take it into consideration
Idea: Event Calendar
We have been adjusting the event calendar over the last few updates as new events have been developed. With the upcoming release of 1.8.3, events will be falling into a much more steady cadence that we will be able to share.
